Alice ran down the old brick sidewalk her golden hair blowing behind her. The lake beside her shimmered in the red setting sun. She was panting trying to run as quickly as she could to get back to the "home" on time. Alice lived in a girls home, she had for 5 years now, after coming back from that horrid place known as wonderland, her parents were gone, there had been a small clue that they had went through the looking glass, to look for her themselves. Alice was only 10 years old when this had happened, but she knew, her parents weren't coming back. They didn't know the horrors that lay tucked in wonderland. Not knowing what to do, Alice went to the police for help...they didn't believe her tale. They had sent her to a girls home. She delt with the horrible place for 5 years now, nuns yelling at her for the way she dressed, and for looking like a foreigner with her blue eyes and blonde hair. If she was late, they'd lock her out, leaving her to sleep outside.
As she continued to run she glanced the the clock that stood tall in the park.
"s-seven fifty five?!!?" she yelled in shock to the time. "o-only 5 more minutes to get home!!!"
The setting sun highlighted her porcelain skin. Her school books were tucked tight in her arms as she closed her eyes trying to run faster. Her hair whipped her face and small pings of pain hit her legs for they were getting tired and overworked.
She squeezed her eyes tighter and began to run faster only to run into something and fall strait to the cold ground. Her books flew out of her hands and into the calm awaiting lake beside her. Her eyes widened as she reached for them as if theyed pop back out good as new. She managed to sit up a bit only to see a pair of legs standing before her. Realizing she must have bumped in to the person she look up at him/her with wide eyes.
"I-I'm so s-sorry!" she said with widened concerned eyes that were beginning to tear up. It was already 8:00. Tonight, she'd be sleeping outside...
