Elephants are deeply enmeshed with the temple culture of Kerala, Southern India. Magnificent bulls, known for their appearance and temperament are selected for the job of temple bulls. Their job is to usually in processions when the idol of the Gods are carried on their backs. The bulls are decorated on their foreheads and adorned anklets on their feet and bells around their necks.
